What: Backpacking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for the fall leaves. Hemphill Bald Loop (starting at Polls Gap) 13 miles. Beautiful bald, but no high points exist near enough to the campsite for sunrise/sunset watching. Ellijay Apple Festival was mostly just stuff to buy but did have pig races, hay mountain, apple-shooting cannon, hydrozorbing and similar attractions.
Camping: Free primitive camping with bear bag wires and water at site 41.
